Safest Home Remedies to Remove Blackheads

How long does it take to remove blackheads? It’s an eternal question with no definitive answer, as the length of time required depends on the severity of your case, among other factors.

There are things you can do at home, though, that will help you get rid of blackheads in the most effective way possible.

Here are safest home remedies for removing blackheads you should know about.

1) Preparation

Cleanse your face thoroughly before performing any of these methods. Wash and dry your hands to avoid spreading bacteria from your hands to your face.

Also, make sure you're using clean items that you don't use on or near food, like tweezers or cloths. If possible, have a good light source so you can see clearly as you perform each method.

Use warm water, not hot water, when steaming. Just because hot water opens pores doesn't mean it will make them less likely to close right after!

Now, grab some tissue paper and let's start removing blackheads! Here are our top 10 home remedies for removing blackheads.

2) Egg White Mask

Applying egg whites onto your face will help loosen up dirt and impurities, which can then be rinsed off with warm water.

This mask is a great way to exfoliate your skin at home. For an added boost, add baking soda or honey to your mask; both ingredients are known to provide deep cleansing and make your skin softer.

It also has calming properties, making it a good choice if you have sensitive skin or rosacea. You may not want to leave it on too long though — egg white can cause irritation if left on too long.

3) Honey Mask

Honey's antibacterial properties can help remove blackheads by killing off acne-causing bacteria. Mix one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of milk, and apply it to your face.

Let it sit for 20 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. Do not use hot water or scrub hard when washing; let your skin breath by gently massaging your face from within a washcloth.

Wash daily until you see an improvement in blackhead removal, then just do once every three days.

4) Lemon Juice + Sugar Scrub

Lemon juice acts as a natural bleach. Apply lemon juice on your face and wait for 5-10 minutes. Now, add some sugar to it and start scrubbing it gently on your face.

This scrub removes blackheads very effectively. After using this remedy, wash your face with water and pat dry.

Apply moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated and soft.

5) Baking Soda and Warm Water Mask

Baking soda, when mixed with warm water, becomes a soothing facial mask that is good for exfoliating.

First apply your favorite moisturizer to cleanse and soften your skin then mix a teaspoon of baking soda into a half cup of warm water to make a paste.

Apply it on your face using your fingers or an inexpensive egg-shaped silicon masque brush. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse off with cool water.

Using baking soda will help remove dead skin cells and sebum from blackheads so that they become less visible over time.

6) Strong Black Tea Bag

The tannic acid in tea helps exfoliate your skin to remove dirt and oil trapped within blackheads. Soak a clean, damp tea bag in warm water. Place it on your skin and leave it on until it cools; be careful not to over-soak.

The longer you let it sit, the more potent it will be. Once it has cooled, gently rub off as much of your blackhead as possible.

Wash your face and apply a moisturizer when finished to help hydrate your skin after exfoliating and to remove any remaining traces of tea from your face. Repeat regularly for best results.

7) Applying Petroleum Jelly on Blackheads

Apply petroleum jelly over your skin and let it act as a protective layer. Wash your face with warm water after 15 minutes. Check out whether blackheads are still visible or not. If they aren’t, then you can use it regularly at least once in a week to get rid of blackhead permanently.

8) Coconut Oil Massage on Nose Area

Coconut oil is considered as a cure for many skin problems. For example, it helps remove blackhead easily. Take some coconut oil in your hand and massage gently on nose area so that coconut oil absorbs well into your skin.

Leave it on for about 20 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water. Coconut oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties that help to remove blackhead from nose pores deeply. Repeat it daily until you get desired results!

9) Ice Cubes

Simple and effective, ice cubes are one of most effective (and inexpensive) ways to remove blackheads. Grab a clean towel and apply it to your skin for about three minutes after applying ice cubes.

The cold will contract pores and tighten your skin around blackheads, making them easier to pop out.

Use an extraction tool such as a sterile needle or a straight pin to remove any bumps you’ve dislodged with your frozen face mask.

Be sure not to push too hard or you could cause more damage than good!

Conclusions

If you want to get rid of blackheads and other unsightly blemishes, here are some tried-and-true ways to do it at home.

Remember, consistency is key when it comes to any skin care regimen. The remedies we’ve suggested here are highly effective if they’re used on a regular basis.

Don’t expect amazing results overnight! It takes time to change your skin and you have to be patient in order to see changes.
